SPRINGFIELD — A disturbance at the High School of Science & Technology escalated Monday when a suspect brandished a firearm, struck a victim and discharged a single shot through a hallway window, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. after a teacher confronted a group of at least four individuals, including one female student, lingering outside the school.

Upon being asked to leave, one individual seized the opportunity to open a cracked door, enabling the group to force entry into the school.

Springfield Police School Resource Officer reported the large disturbance, which did not result in any gunshot injuries or serious harm to those present.

Josiah Livingston, 22, of Hartford, was arrested on charges of Assault & Battery in connection with the disturbance and is currently held on $25,000 bail.

The suspect responsible for the gunfire remains at large.

Springfield Police Detective Bureau, led by Captain Trent Duda, is actively investigating the case.
