FERRISBURGH — A Middlebury man was apprehended Sunday afternoon in connection with the theft of a trailer owned by a Ferrisburgh resident, state police reported.

Vermont State Troopers were notified on March 11 at about 11:33 a.m. of the theft of Eric Huestis’ trailer from outside his home on Greenbush Road.

The theft is believed to have occurred during the evening of March 10.

Later that day, at approximately 3:12 p.m., Middlebury Police Department officers spotted the trailer being towed by a pickup truck and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon arrival, troopers conducted an investigation and determined that the driver, 33-year-old Benjamin Emmons of Middlebury, was in knowing possession of Huestis’ stolen property and had no intention of returning it.

Emmons was arrested and taken to the New Haven Barracks for processing.

Following processing, he was released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division at a future date to face charges related to the possession of stolen property.
