COLCHESTER — Police arrested a man early March 10 after a disturbance at a local Days Inn, where he reportedly became aggressive and refused to leave the premises.

The Colchester Police Department received a call at approximately 5:17 a.m. from the hotel clerk reporting a guest who was refusing to leave and becoming increasingly agitated.

A second call indicated the situation had escalated to physical confrontation, with a guest restraining the male, who then left the property walking west on College Parkway.

Officers encountered a man matching the description given.

He refused to identify himself and did not comply with their commands.

During the arrest, the individual, later identified as 39-year-old Brandon Bane, resisted and continued to be uncooperative.

Police used OC spray to subdue Bane, who was then taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center for decontamination before being processed at the police department.

Bane was lodged at the Northwest Regional Correctional Facility with bail set at $200.

He is charged with violation of conditions of release, impeding public officers, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and unlawful trespass.

The Colchester Police Department, assisted by the Winooski Police Department and St. Michael’s Fire & Rescue, is asking anyone with additional information to contact them at (802) 264-5555.
