BOSTON — A Lynn man was arrested on drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop by members of the Youth Violence Strike Force on Saturday, March 9.

At about 12:35 a.m., officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of the Massachusetts Avenue Connector and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver was unable to produce a license, and officers noticed that the four passengers were not wearing seatbelts.

When asked to exit the vehicle, one occupant, Abel Severino Reyes, 20, of Lynn, refused to comply.

After multiple attempts, officers were able to remove Reyes from the vehicle and conducted a pat frisk, recovering a large plastic bag containing 101 grams of fentanyl from his jacket pocket.

Severino Reyes was arrested and charged with trafficking class A substances.

He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
