Arrest made in Adams industrial complex break-in

ADAMS — A man was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly breaking into an industrial complex near the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail and stealing copper wire, according to the Adams Police Department.

Officer Banks was conducting a building check at approximately 10:06 a.m. when he discovered the man inside the building, which has been the subject of previous break-ins.

The officer found the suspect with a backpack containing about 30 pounds of copper wire.

The man was apprehended without incident and charged with breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony, larceny from a building, and possession of burglarious tools.

Recently, pedestrians walking the trail have reported people entering the building in a dilapidated area, jumping the barbed wire fence, and removing property.

The suspect was booked at the Adams Police Department and transported to Northern Berkshire District Court for arraignment.
