Woman cited for DUI after crashing on I-91 in Ryegate

RYEGATE — A Barnet woman has been cited for driving under the influence and negligent operation following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 91 in Ryegate.

The Vermont State Police responded to reports of the crash near mile marker 115 on I-91 North at approximately 4:17 p.m. on March 5.

Troopers arrived to find a 2013 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Michelle Schuyer, 53, flipped on its side and blocking the southbound passing lane.

During the investigation, troopers observed Schuyer exhibiting signs of impairment. Field sobriety tests revealed she was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Schuyer was taken into custody and processed at the St. Johnsbury Barracks. She was cited to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on March 25 at 8:30 a.m.
