Three-vehicle crash on Route 302 in Newbury

NEWBURY — A Woodsville, New Hampshire, man was transported to the hospital with minor injuries following a three-vehicle crash on Route 302 in Newbury Wednesday afternoon.

The Vermont State Police responded to the crash at approximately 4:12 p.m. on March 6.

According to the investigation, David Richards, 66, was traveling east in a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado when he failed to maintain his lane, striking guardrails and two westbound vehicles before going off the road and down an embankment.

The two other vehicles, driven by Randy Duprey, 64, of Barre Town, and George Houghton, 46, of Groton, sustained minor to severe damage.

Richards was transported to Cottage Hospital for treatment of minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the St. Johnsbury Barracks.
