15-year-old arrested with loaded firearm in South Boston

BOSTON — A 15-year-old juvenile male was arrested on firearm charges in the area of Dorchester Avenue on Wednesday, March 6 at about 10:22 a.m.

An officer on patrol observed two males matching the description of individuals involved in recent armed robberies. When approached, the suspects fled on foot.

During the pursuit, the officer saw one suspect discard a firearm inside Andrew Square T Station.

The suspect was apprehended near Boston Street and Ellery Street, and the recovered firearm was determined to be a Smith and Wesson M&P with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine.

The juvenile faces charges of delinquent to wit; unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court. A second juvenile was stopped and released from the scene.
