Two arrested on drug charges after Brattleboro traffic stop

BRATTLEBORO — Two local residents were arrested and charged with drug offenses following a traffic stop at a Brattleboro hotel parking lot on March 5.

Mary G. Benjamin, 55, and Vanessa Mack, 41, both of Brattleboro, were taken into custody after police received a complaint about suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn on Putney Road.

A subsequent investigation led to the seizure of approximately 156 grams of crack cocaine, 1,027 bags of fentanyl, and a 9mm pistol from the vehicle.

Benjamin and Mack were charged with possessing fentanyl and crack cocaine. Mack also had an active arrest warrant.

Benjamin was jailed on $10,000 bail, while Mack was held on $25,000 bail. Both are scheduled to appear in Windham Superior Court on March 6.
