Vermont state police recover stolen vehicle, suspect still at large

RUTLAND — Vermont State Police recovered a stolen vehicle belonging to Paul Woodruff on Stratton Road in Rutland at approximately 5:10 p.m. on March 2, but the suspect, Gary Clay Jr., remains at large.

The vehicle, a yellow 2004 Nissan Xterra with Vermont temporary plate W00298A, was reported stolen by Woodruff on March 1 around 8:28 a.m. from White Road in Windham.

The car is described as having large tires and a black and silver roof rack.

Authorities are continuing their search for Clay, 51, of Windham, and are appealing to the public for any information regarding his whereabouts.

Clay is accused of aggravated operation without the consent of the owner.

The Vermont State Police urge anyone with information about Clay to contact the Westminster Barracks at 802-722-4600.
