Driver charged with DUI after erratic driving in Ludlow

LUDLOW — A 61-year-old Townsend, MA, man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after his vehicle was spotted driving erratically on Route 103 and Andover Street.

Douglas J. Shakshober was behind the wheel of a 2020 BMW X5 heading south on Route 103 on Feb. 29 when he reportedly began drifting onto the shoulder, then veered into a left turn lane before correcting back to the travel lane.

Shakshober’s vehicle subsequently made a right turn onto Andover Street, crossing into the opposing traffic lane.

Local authorities stopped Shakshober’s BMW after witnessing the erratic driving at approximately 7:24 p.m. During the traffic stop, Shakshober displayed signs of impairment and was screened.

Following the assessment, police arrested Shakshober for DUI.

Shakshober was taken to Rutland City for processing.

He has been cited to appear in Windsor County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on March 12 to answer to the DUI charge.
