BOSTON — Officers from the A-7 Anti-Crime Unit apprehended a Malden man on charges of drug trafficking following a routine traffic violation on Thursday evening.

At approximately 6:08 p.m., officers patrolling near Maverick Square in response to community complaints observed a vehicle failing to stop at a red light.

A subsequent traffic stop at the intersection of Visconti and Paris streets led to the discovery of drugs and the arrest of 29-year-old Jenttrey Serrano.

During the interaction with Serrano, the sole occupant of the vehicle, officers learned he was operating with a suspended license.

After hesitating to comply with orders to exit the vehicle, Serrano was removed, and an inventory search was conducted.

Officers found a clear plastic container with various quantities of cocaine, totaling 68.1 grams, and a digital scale.

Serrano faces charges of trafficking cocaine and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

He is scheduled for arraignment at East Boston District Court.
