Pedestrian killed in Main Street car crash in Farmington

FARMINGTON — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car just before 6:24 p.m. on Main Street near the intersection with Garfield, local authorities reported.

The Farmington Police Department said the 60-year-old man was attempting to cross Main Street when a Volkswagen Jetta hit him.

The severity of the accident prompted officials to close Main Street immediately, which remained shut down until approximately 8 p.m. as investigators worked at the scene.

Emergency responders transported the victim to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police are calling for witnesses to come forward with any information regarding the incident.

Farmington Fire and Rescue, Milton Fire and Rescue, and Frisbie Hospital paramedics were among the departments that responded and assisted at the scene of the tragic accident.
