BOSTON — A coordinated effort by the A-1 (Downtown) Drug Control Unit led to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of an array of illegal substances and a firearm on Monday afternoon.
Keith Curtis, 38, of Athol, Katherine Isaacs, 33, of Weymouth, and Michael Groden, 44, of Needham were apprehended around 1 p.m. during a drug investigation at downtown crossing.
Officers on scene observed what appeared to be a drug transaction, which prompted the detentions and subsequent searches.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of approximately 172 grams of heroin, 48 grams of crack cocaine, and 9 suboxone sublingual films.
In addition to the narcotics, a SCCY 9MM semi-automatic handgun loaded with 8 rounds was found in Curtis’s possession, concealed within a black fanny bag.
Curtis was also found with $931 in cash.
Curtis is facing a slew of charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, trafficking in class A and B substances, distribution of a class A substance, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Isaacs was charged with trafficking class A and B substances, distribution of a class A substance, possession of a class B substance, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Groden’s charges include trafficking class A and possession of a class B substance.
The suspects are set to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court as the legal process moves forward.
