PITTSFIELD — A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery at Beacon Cinema on North Street, authorities said Monday.

Pittsfield Police responded to a call on Friday at approximately 10:18 p.m. about a male suspect who allegedly claimed to have a weapon and demanded money from an employee.

After the robbery, the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Using descriptions from witnesses and the initial reports, officers located a man matching the suspect’s description at the intersection of Francis Ave. and Bradford St. a short time after the crime.

The individual, identified as Kyle Richard Wilbur, was recognized by the victim as the assailant.

Although no weapon was found on Wilbur during his arrest, he was charged with armed robbery and taken into custody.

Recovered cash was seized as evidence.

Wilbur was then transported to the Pittsfield Police Department.

Wilbur appeared in Pittsfield District Court for his arraignment on Monday, where he faced the charge stemming from Friday’s incident.

The police department has not released any further details on the case at this time.
