Williamstown man arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into building

WILLIAMSTOWN — A local man was arrested Thursday evening after crashing his vehicle into a residential structure on VT RT 14 near Depot Street.

Jacob Tassie, 22, of Williamstown, was taken into custody around 5:46 p.m. for suspected driving under the influence.

According to the Vermont State Police, Tassie was driving a 2005 Toyota Tundra when he lost control and collided with the building.

The crash resulted in front-end damage to the vehicle.

The weather was clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the incident.

Tassie, who was wearing his seat belt, suffered suspected minor injuries but declined transport to a hospital.

After displaying signs of impairment at the scene, Tassie was transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing.

He was released on a citation and is scheduled to appear in the Orange County Superior Court – Criminal Division on March 13 to answer to the DUI charge.
