Boston man arrested in connection with Back Bay, Fenway armed robberies

BOSTON — Boston Police Department detectives have arrested a 61-year-old Massachusetts man on Feb. 23 in connection with a series of armed robberies in the city’s Back Bay and Fenway neighborhoods.

David Joseph Laffey was taken into custody near the intersection of Island Street and Melnea Cass Boulevard as part of an ongoing investigation.

Laffey, who was found in possession of drugs at the time of his arrest, will face two counts of armed robbery in Roxbury District Court, along with charges for possession of Class B and Class A drugs.

The robberies in question occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on Feb. 21 at 470 Commonwealth Avenue, and at around 9:15 p.m. on Feb. 22 at 324 Newbury Street.

The Boston Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the robberies and encourages anyone with information to contact District D-4 detectives at (617) 343-5619.

The department assures that the identities of informants will be kept confidential.
