WATERBURY — A local woman was charged with driving under the influence early Sunday morning following a single-vehicle accident that left her with non-life-threatening injuries.

Vermont State Police reported that at approximately 2 a.m. on Feb. 18, they responded to the scene of an accident on Stowe St. in Waterbury, where they found a vehicle that had veered off the road and struck a tree.

The driver, identified as Hannah Normandeau, 36, of Waterbury, was the only person in the car.

She was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center for treatment.

An investigation at the scene revealed that Normandeau was unable to successfully negotiate a turn and lost control of her vehicle before crashing.

Police determined she had been operating the vehicle under the influence of intoxicants.

Normandeau was issued a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court – Criminal Division to face the DUI charge at a date and time to be determined.
