Hardwick man cited for burglary, possession of stolen property

HARDWICK — In the early hours of Friday morning, Vermont State Police executed a search warrant at a residence on Hillside St., leading to the citation of a local man for burglary and possession of stolen property.

The search conducted at 7 Hillside St. was part of a broader investigation into a string of burglaries across the Walden area.

The operation included officers from the Tactical Services Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, and Field Force Division.

During the search, officers uncovered various items linked to the reported burglaries.

Joel Gouin, 38, a Hardwick resident, was cited for his involvement in the incidents.

Currently held at Northern State Correctional Facility on unrelated charges, Gouin is set to be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 26 at the Caledonia County Criminal Court.

The Vermont State Police credited the breakthrough in the case to numerous tips from the public and acknowledged the aid of local law enforcement agencies, including the Hardwick Police Department, Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department, and Morristown Police Department.

Investigators urge anyone with additional information to come forward and contact Trooper Kyle Fecher or Trooper Evan Johnson at the St. Johnsbury Barracks.

The Vermont State Police stressed that the investigation is still active and have committed to releasing further details as they become available.
