RUPERT — A single-vehicle accident in the early hours of Feb. 11 left a Rupert intersection with significant damage and resulted in a citation for a New York driver.

Eric J. Vilbrin, 32, of Granville, NY, was traveling on Route 30 when his 2023 Ford F150 struck a stop sign at the intersection with Route 315 around 2 a.m. to 4 a.m., according to the Vermont State Police.

The vehicle suffered front-end damage after Vilbrin lost control and collided with the guardrails.

Despite the dry pavement and clear weather conditions, Vilbrin failed to maintain his lane, which led to the crash.

The Vermont State Police – Shaftsbury Barracks reported receiving the crash notification later that day at 5:12 p.m.

Vilbrin, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident, did not sustain injuries and no hospitalization was necessary.

However, he was cited for leaving the scene of an accident.

He is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Bennington County Criminal Division on April 1 at 8:15 a.m. to face the charges stemming from the incident.
