Athens man faces multiple charges after Grafton crashes

GRAFTON — Vermont State Police arrested a 37-year-old Athens man following a series of events that ended with a vehicle crash on VT Route 121 E on Feb. 16.

Authorities were alerted to a single vehicle accident in the vicinity of Otis Road on Chester Road in Grafton around 10:38 a.m.

The vehicle, driven by Joshua M. Lescord, was still operational after the initial crash and continued until it went down an embankment near 711 VT-121 E.

Lescord, along with a passenger, fled from the scene but were apprehended shortly after.

Investigation revealed Lescord was already wanted on an active arrest warrant and was driving with a criminally suspended license.

He was found to be in breach of conditions of release from prior incidents.

Police noted that Lescord exhibited signs of drug impairment at the time of the crash.

He was taken into custody and processed for DUI involving drugs.

Lescord was held at Southern State Correctional Facility based on the arrest warrant.

No information about the passenger was provided.
