WATERBURY — Two Subaru Crosstreks were totaled in a collision that occurred on VT Route 100 near Guptil Rd on Feb. 14 at approximately 8:29 p.m., according to Vermont State Police.

Diane Mauro-Gildea, 67, of Waterbury, was driving her 2019 Subaru Crosstrek southbound when she failed to yield to a vehicle stopped at a red light.

The other vehicle, a 2020 Subaru Crosstrek, was operated by Brian O’Neil, 52, of Williston.

Mauro-Gildea reported suspected minor injuries following the crash.

Troopers responded to the scene and conducted an investigation, which revealed that Mauro-Gildea’s vehicle struck O’Neil’s while he was stationary at the traffic signal.

Neither driver required hospitalization, and both were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.

The collision led to partial lane closures along VT Route 100 as emergency services, including the Waterbury Fire Department, Waterbury Ambulance Service, and E&S Towing, worked to clear the scene and assist those involved.

Authorities have reminded drivers to observe traffic signals and exercise caution at intersections to prevent similar incidents.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
