NEW HAVEN — Vermont State Troopers were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of VT Route 17 and Green Street on Feb. 15 at 4:38 p.m.,

According to the authorities, Joan Humiston, 85, of Ferrisburgh, was driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla north on Green Street when she failed to yield at a two-way stop and entered the intersection simultaneously with a 2012 Dodge Ram, operated by William Masterson, 77, of Lincoln, who was traveling west on VT Route 17.

The front end of Humiston’s vehicle struck the driver’s side of Masterson’s truck, causing both vehicles to come to a stop in uncontrolled positions.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and despite the severe damage to both vehicles, which were declared totaled, there were no injuries.

Troopers were supported at the scene by the Vergennes Fire Department and the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad.

The crash remains under investigation, and local drivers are reminded of the importance of adhering to stop signs and traffic regulations.
