Fairfield man faces fifth DUI charge after road rage incident

FAIRFIELD — A Vermont man was arrested and charged with his fifth DUI following a road rage incident on Feb. 14.

State Troopers from the St. Albans Barracks responded to reports of a potential road rage situation in Fairfield on Feb. 14 at around 4:44 p.m. Upon arrival, they identified Philip Smith, 44, of Milton, as the driver involved.

Troopers observed signs of impairment while interacting with Smith.

After conducting an investigation at the scene, Smith was arrested and brought to the St. Albans Barracks for processing.

He was later transported to Northwest State Correctional Facility.

Smith is scheduled to appear in Franklin County Superior Court to face the charges.
