Man faces multiple charges after burglary, vehicle theft in Danville

DANVILLE — Vermont State Police arrested a man Monday evening on charges including burglary and grand larceny after a series of incidents involving theft and violation of release conditions.

At 7 p.m. on Feb. 13, troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks were dispatched to a reported burglary at a residence on VT 2 and Parker Road.

While investigating the scene and searching for a suspect purportedly fleeing on foot, authorities received a report of a stolen Toyota 4Runner from the Red Barn Brewery in the vicinity.

Utilizing the GPS system equipped in the stolen vehicle, troopers tracked its location to Lowell.

Assisted by the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks, authorities located and arrested 38-year-old Joel Gouin in Troy.

Gouin, who is transient, was found operating the stolen vehicle.

Gouin was taken into custody on an active warrant and was additionally cited for the incidents in Danville, facing charges that include violation of conditions of release, burglary, grand larceny, petit larceny, possession of stolen property, and operation without owner’s consent.

He is scheduled to appear in court to answer to these charges.
