Chelsea woman faces DUI, other charges after school bus crash

CORINTH — Vermont State Police responded to a single motor vehicle crash involving a school bus on Feb. 12 at 5:02 p.m. on Chelsea Road, near the intersection with Eagle Hollow Road.

Lydia Brooke, 25, of Chelsea, was identified as the driver of the minivan-style school bus owned by Pierson’s Transportation, LLC.

Brooke, who was the sole occupant at the time of the crash, was transported to Central Vermont Hospital with minor injuries.

Upon arrival, troopers noted signs of impairment, and Brooke was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

The investigation also determined that Brooke had been transporting children prior to the accident, but no children were present during the incident.

Brooke faces additional charges including negligent operation and reckless endangerment, as well as cruelty to a child.

She was processed and released with a citation to appear at the Orange County Superior Court – Criminal Division on March 6 at 8 a.m.
