Vermont Rail System equipment case hit in Wallingford crash, police seek info

WALLINGFORD — A hit-and-run crash early this morning damaged property belonging to Vermont Rail System, according to Vermont State Police.

The incident occurred on Vermont Route 140 near Sugar Hill Road before 10 a.m. Authorities say an unknown motor vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with an equipment case.

The vehicle, believed to be maroon and potentially missing a passenger-side headlight, incurred damage to its front passenger corner.

No injuries were reported in the crash, and the driver has yet to be identified.

State Police are investigating the collision and asking anyone with information to come forward.
