PITTSFIELD — A suspect was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with the armed robbery of NBT Bank on Merrill Road last November, according to the Pittsfield Police Department.

On Nov. 29, at around 5 p.m., a masked individual identified as 51-year-old Christopher Oliveri of Milford, Massachusetts, entered the bank, brandished a firearm, and ordered the tellers to secure the premises and access the vault.

After binding the employees with zip ties and taking approximately $143,960, the suspect fled the scene.

The tellers managed to free themselves and notify authorities.

No physical injuries were sustained during the incident.

A thorough investigation led authorities to Oliveri, who reportedly used a rented white Nissan Pathfinder to travel from Milford to Pittsfield to commit the robbery and return.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Oliveri on charges of armed and masked robbery and two counts of firearm-armed kidnapping.

Today, at the break of dawn, investigators observed Oliveri near his residence, followed him, and apprehended him on the outstanding warrant.

He was found in possession of a black revolver at the time of his arrest.

A search of Oliveri’s home led to the recovery of evidence connected to the NBT Bank robbery, including clothing, equipment, a firearm resembling the one used during the robbery, and about $112,700 in cash.

Oliveri is set to be arraigned in Worcester District Court on charges from the bank robbery and for the illegal possession of the firearm found during his arrest.

He will face further arraignment in Pittsfield District Court for the bank robbery charges, with additional charges pending based on evidence found during the search of his home.

The successful resolution of the case was attributed to collaborative efforts by the Pittsfield Police Department Detective Bureau, Digital Forensic Evidence Unit, Drug Unit, Massachusetts State Police, Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force, FBI, Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, and Milford Police Department.
