MIDDLEBOROUGH — Police Chief Joseph Perkins and Fire Chief Owen Thompson reported a fatal head-on collision on Route 28 that claimed the life of one driver and led to the closure of a segment of the road.

The Middleborough Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene near Cushman and Rocky Gutter streets on Friday, Feb. 9, at about 1:30 p.m. following reports of the crash.

Responders found a delivery truck and an SUV had collided and caught fire.

The delivery truck’s driver was rushed to a local hospital by ambulance.
