LYNDONVILLE — A driver was cited for leaving the scene of an accident after his yellow box truck collided with the historic Miller’s Run Covered Bridge on Feb. 8.

The Lyndonville Police Department reported that at approximately 11:41 a.m., they received a complaint regarding the bridge damage.

Officers found the vehicle on Lynburke Road near Calendar Brook Road shortly after the incident.

Sereign M. Diop, 23, from Woonsocket, RI, is set to be arraigned in Caledonia Criminal Court on April 15 at 8:30 a.m. for the incident.

Diop was also found to be operating the vehicle after being placed out of service by the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicle Enforcement & Safety earlier the same day.

In addition to the hit-and-run charge, Diop received citations for town ordinance violations due to the truck’s weight and height, which exceeded the bridge’s limits.

His vehicle was towed away by B&B Towing.
