PITTSFIELD — A man suspected of robbing a local bank last November was arrested early this morning in Milford, Massachusetts, after a months-long investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

On Nov. 29, at approximately 5 p.m., the Pittsfield Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery at NBT Bank on Merrill Road.

The masked suspect displayed a firearm, demanded cash, and zip-tied the tellers’ hands before fleeing with roughly $143,960.

The tellers managed to free themselves and alert authorities, with no injuries reported.

Investigators identified 51-year-old Christopher Oliveri of Milford, MA, as the suspect, alleging he used a rental vehicle to commit the crime and return home.

An arrest warrant for Oliveri charged him with Armed and Masked Robbery and two counts of Firearm-Armed Kidnapping.

On Feb. 7, law enforcement followed Oliveri from his residence and apprehended him.

A subsequent search revealed he was carrying a black revolver and, upon searching his home, authorities found evidence linked to the NBT Bank robbery, including similar clothing, a firearm, and approximately $112,700 in cash.

Oliveri awaits arraignment in Worcester District Court on the arrest warrant and additional firearm charges.

He will later face arraignment in Pittsfield District Court for the robbery.

Further charges are pending as the investigation continues.

The successful arrest and evidence retrieval resulted from the cooperative efforts of the Pittsfield Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and other local and federal agencies.
