BRIDPORT — A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred on February 6 at the intersection of East Street and Market Road, resulting in one fatality and a minor injury.

John Terry, 62, from Ripton, was identified as the deceased driver of a 2014 Jeep Patriot.

The Jeep was traveling west on Market Road and failed to stop at a posted stop sign, entering the southbound lane of East Street.

It was then struck by a 2023 Dodge Big Horn, driven by Keith Betourney, 57, of Bridport.

The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to roll over several times before coming to a rest in an uncontrolled position.

Terry was not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries. Betourney, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries to his finger and was transported to Porter Hospital.

Troopers, assisted by the VSP Crash Reconstruction Team, Bridport Fire Department, and Middlebury Ambulance Service, responded to the scene.

The road conditions were dry and the weather clear at the time of the accident. Both vehicles were totaled as a result of the crash.
