Fairfield man missing since December possibly found deceased

FAIRFIELD — The Vermont State Police reported the discovery of a body in Fairfield on Tuesday, Feb. 6, which may be linked to the case of Timothy “Timmy” Jettie, a 59-year-old local resident reported missing since Dec. 10, 2023.

The body was found in a wooded area near Castle and Menard roads, close to where search efforts for Jettie had been concentrated.

The discovery was made at approximately 2:09 p.m. by a member of the public near 850 Barry Rd.

Responding to the scene were troopers and the Fairfield Fire Department, who located the remains and transported them to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington.

The autopsy aims to confirm the identity and ascertain the cause and manner of death.

Extensive search operations for Jettie have been ongoing, involving multiple agencies. The last confirmed sighting of Mr. Jettie was at the Fairfield Market on Oct. 26, 2023.

He was last seen wearing tan canvas pants, work boots, and a navy-blue sweatshirt with “Cold Corner Mapleworks” printed on it.

The Vermont State Police continue to lead an active investigation into the matter.

They have not released additional details but will provide updates as the case progresses.
