CHARLTON — Early on Feb. 6, the Charlton Police Department responded to a call about a domestic disturbance at a local residence, where a firearm was reported to be involved.

Officers arrived at the scene following a third-party report of the incident.

Upon making contact, a resident exited the house and informed the police that another individual inside had accessed a firearm during the disturbance.

Shortly after, officers heard a noise indicative of a firearm discharge from within the home.

The situation escalated, prompting the Charlton Police to call for additional law enforcement support, including a crisis negotiation team.

Regional resources were mobilized to assist in resolving the standoff.

After concerted efforts by various law enforcement agencies, a male suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

He is scheduled for arraignment at Dudley District Court on charges related to the domestic disturbance.

In line with Massachusetts Public Records laws, the Charlton Police Department is withholding additional details at this time.
