DUNBARTON — A juvenile driver escaped injury Friday evening after their vehicle went over a guardrail and landed in a creek, according to the Dunbarton Police Department.

Officers Philbrook and Gorman responded to a call at approximately 7:40 p.m. regarding a motor vehicle collision near the intersection of Grapevine Road and Gile Hill Road.

Upon arrival, they discovered a car partially submerged in the creek.

The initial investigation indicated that the young driver accidentally accelerated instead of braking while descending a hill, causing the vehicle to vault over the guardrail via a snowbank and into the water.

The operator managed to self-extricate without sustaining injuries.

The police department was supported at the scene by the Dunbarton Fire Department, J&M Towing, and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.

The incident is under further investigation, but no injuries were reported.
