Rhode Island State Police make multiple arrests, including DUI and shoplifting charges

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police have reported a series of arrests following various incidents throughout the state.

At 9:20 a.m., troopers apprehended Justin Silva, 45, from Cumberland, on multiple warrants including two for Family Court violations and one for shoplifting based on a warrant issued by the Cumberland Police Department.

Silva was detained after a warrant check on Carpenter Street in Cumberland.

He was taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks and then handed over to local authorities.

Later in the day, at 3:25 p.m., Jorge Rodriguez, 48, from Lynn, Massachusetts, was arrested for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content significantly over the legal limit, and reckless eluding.

This arrest was the outcome of troopers responding to a call about an erratic driver on Route 95 South in Providence.

Rodriguez was taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, where he was processed and released to a responsible adult after arraignment.

Jose Villanueva Guevara, 33, of Central Falls, was taken into custody at 4:45 p.m. for possessing a controlled substance identified as Fentanyl.

The arrest occurred following a vehicle stop on Summit Street in Central Falls.

Guevara was processed and released with a scheduled court date at the Sixth District Court.

At 10:21 p.m., Chaquan M. Barboza, 30, of Cranston, was arrested for driving with a suspended license for the fourth or subsequent offense and for failing to appear in court on a previous charge of the same nature.

This arrest followed a vehicle stop on Reservoir Avenue in Cranston.

Barboza was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks before being transferred to the Adult Correctional Institution – Men’s Intake Center.

In the early hours at 2:02 a.m., Christopher Daniel, 35, of North Providence, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

The arrest was made after a motor vehicle stop on Thurston Street in Pawtucket.

Daniel was processed and released into the custody of a responsible adult with a future Sixth District Court date.

Lastly, at 2:54 a.m., Bryan A. Sanchez Sornoza, 25, of Central Falls, was arrested on domestic violence charges including simple assault and/or battery, vandalism/malicious injury to property, and disorderly conduct.

The arrest was the result of an investigation into a domestic incident on Route 95 in Providence.

Sanchez Sornoza was processed at the State Police – Lincoln Woods Barracks and released with an order to appear in Sixth Division District Court.

The Rhode Island State Police continue to investigate these incidents and ensure the safety and enforcement of the law throughout the state.
