Derry police confirm fatality in Friday crash

DERRY — One person died in a vehicle accident on Friday, according to Derry Police Department.

Emergency crews from Derry Fire Rescue and police were dispatched to 82 Old Chester Road following reports of a motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered a Mercury Mountaineer that had rolled over onto its driver’s side off the road.

Firefighters found the driver inside the vehicle, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the operator, believed to be the sole occupant, is being withheld until the next of kin has been notified.

A preliminary investigation by the Derry Police suggests the driver may have suffered a medical episode, which could have contributed to the accident.

The Derry Police Department is currently investigating the collision.

Officials have stated that additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
