Lebanon student struck by car while boarding school bus, in stable condition

LEBANON — A middle school student was hit by a vehicle Friday morning while attempting to board a school bus at a city intersection, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to the scene at the intersection of Waterman Ave and South Main St. at 6:55 a.m. after reports surfaced that a vehicle failed to stop for a school bus’s flashing lights, striking the student.

The bus was heading north on South Main St., approaching the stop at Waterman Ave with its lights activated, when an elderly female driver traveling in the opposite direction failed to halt, authorities said.

The student was conscious and alert when first responders arrived and has been transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in stable condition.

Lebanon Police and Fire Departments are conducting an investigation to ascertain the full circumstances of the incident and to determine any potential charges against the driver.
