Teachers involved in pedestrian crash near school in Newton

NEWTON — A motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian occurred on Feb. 1 at around 11:17 a.m., prompting local police to respond to the scene at 100 Walnut St.

According to authorities, a motorist was exiting the Ed Center parking lot onto Crafts St. when they struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street.

The pedestrian, who was not utilizing a crosswalk at the time of the incident, sustained injuries and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Both individuals involved in the accident are teachers, as they identified themselves to the responding officers.

The incident is currently under investigation, and no further details have been released regarding the condition of the pedestrian or whether any citations have been issued.
