TEWKSBURY — Police Chief Ryan Columbus announced the arrest of a Dorchester man on multiple drug-related charges Tuesday night.

Fidia Arias, 37, was taken into custody and charged with distribution of a Class A substance as a subsequent offense, operating with a suspended license, and two default warrants related to drug offenses.

At about 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 30, Tewksbury Police Narcotics Unit detectives conducted an undercover purchase of fentanyl from Arias in the parking lot of a business on Andover Street.

After the transaction, detectives stopped Arias’ vehicle and arrested him.

A subsequent investigation at the police station uncovered that Arias had used an alias in the past and had two outstanding default warrants for distribution of a Class A substance and possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute.

Arias is scheduled for arraignment in Lowell District Court on Wednesday.

The charges against him are accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
