Worcester police nab three in organized retail theft at Target

WORCESTER — Three men were arrested Saturday after Worcester Police officers responded to a call at the local Target on Lincoln St., where a group was reported to have stolen a large quantity of merchandise.

According to authorities, the incident occurred Jan. 28 when officers were dispatched to the store.

As they arrived, they learned the suspects had fled in a white Toyota Camry.

The vehicle was soon stopped on Lincoln St.

While detaining the suspects, police reviewed surveillance footage from Target, which confirmed the individuals in the car matched the description of those involved in the theft.

The video evidence suggested the men worked together to steal thousands of dollars worth of goods.

The suspects, identified as George Gvelesiani, 35, of Philadelphia, Vakhtang Barkalaia, 41, of Brooklyn, and Giorgi Adeishvili, 41, of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, were arrested and charged with Larceny over $1,200, Organized Retail Crime, and five counts of Deactivation or Removal of a Theft Detection Device.
