DANBY — Vermont State Police have made the first arrests in connection with the Feb. 3, 2022, homicide of 17-year-old Isiah Rodriguez from Springfield, Massachusetts.

Ashley Wicks, 32, and Shawn Bulson, 28, both from Bennington, were arrested Monday on charges of being accessories after the fact to the fatal shooting.

Wicks is also charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

The pair are set for arraignment Tuesday morning in Bennington Superior Court.

The arrests stem from a lengthy investigation into the death of Rodriguez, whose body was found with gunshot wounds on Danby Mountain Road.

The case has been linked to disputes over drug trafficking and stolen firearms.

State police continue their investigation and anticipate further arrests.

The affidavit of probable cause has been filed with the Bennington court, and media inquiries about the hearing should be directed to the Court Clerk’s Office.

The initial discovery of Rodriguez’s body led to an autopsy on Feb. 4, 2022, confirming the cause of death as gunshot wounds.

Investigators have been seeking information from anyone who was in the area of Danby Mountain Road between 10:30-11:30 p.m. on Feb. 2, 2022.

The Vermont State Police are urging anyone with information to contact the Rutland Barracks at 802-773-9101 or submit an anonymous tip at http://vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit.

Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
