SOMERSWORTH — A man suspected of robbing a local Target store was arrested by Somersworth Police after being detained by Dover Police on Jan. 29.

The suspect, identified as 42-year-old transient Robert Bragg, was found in possession of bags suspected to contain heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamines during his arrest.

While being transported to the police department, Bragg, despite being handcuffed, managed to retrieve another bag of suspected heroin fentanyl from his body and attempted to consume it.

Officers intervened upon arrival at the station, removing the substance from Bragg’s mouth, which exposed them to the drug as the bag tore open.

Both Bragg and two police officers were taken to Wentworth Douglass Hospital for medical treatment due to exposure.

After several hours, all parties were treated and released.

Bragg faces charges including Armed Robbery, Falsifying Physical Evidence, three counts of Possession of a Controlled Drug, and three counts of Reckless Conduct.

He also had an outstanding arrest warrant for Non-Appearance in Court from Rockingham County Superior Court.

Following treatment, Bragg was returned to the police department and later transported to the Strafford County House of Corrections.

He awaits arraignment in Dover District Court, scheduled for Jan. 30 at 10:30 a.m.
