BARNET — An 86-year-old local woman suffered minor injuries Saturday morning when her car struck a utility pole on Aiken Farm Road, Vermont State Police said.

Nancy Bower of Barnet was driving a 2019 Volkswagen Golf when she lost control of the vehicle during a right-hand turn, leading to a crash at 10:59 a.m.

Authorities cited speed and wet road conditions as contributing factors in the accident.

The Golf sustained substantial front-end damage, and the impact was strong enough to break the utility pole in half.

Bower, who was wearing her seatbelt, was transported to Northern Vermont Regional Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

The Vermont State Police were aided by the Barnet Fire Department, Green Mountain Power, and JTB Towing in the response to the accident.

The incident remains under investigation.
