Winooski man found dead in Colchester

COLCHESTER — The individual found deceased in a vehicle on East Lakeshore Drive yesterday has been identified as Mitchell Bissonnette, a 39-year-old resident of Winooski.

Colchester Police Department officers responded to the scene at approximately 4:39 p.m. on Jan. 26 after receiving reports of an unresponsive person.

Upon arrival, they confirmed that Bissonnette was dead.

Preliminary evidence suggests the death may be due to a drug overdose, according to the Colchester Police Department.

However, the official cause and manner of death are pending, awaiting a final determination from the Chief Medical Examiner’s office.

The investigation into Bissonnette’s death is ongoing.

Detective Michael West, who is handling the case, emphasized that the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no immediate threat to the public’s safety.
