East Bridgewater man charged with fentanyl trafficking

EAST BRIDGEWATER — A local man faces serious drug charges after East Bridgewater officers, working with federal agents, executed a search warrant and seized narcotics early Monday morning, Police Chief Michael Jenkins announced.

Jonathan Pires, 28, of Brockton, was arrested and is now facing charges for trafficking fentanyl and possession of a Class B substance.

The search took place at 6:05 a.m. on Jan. 23 at Pires’ residence at 329 Court St. in Brockton, concluding a weeks-long investigation led by the FBI Metro Boston Gang Task Force, with East Bridgewater Detective David Perrault acting as the lead Task Force Officer.

The operation involved members of the East Bridgewater Police Department, Brockton Police, and the FBI SWAT team.

Upon executing the search warrant, officers secured the premises without incident and Pires surrendered peacefully.

During the search, law enforcement officials discovered and confiscated 10 grams of fentanyl, two amphetamine pills, and a pair of digital scales.

Following his arrest, Pires was taken to the East Bridgewater Police Station for booking.

His arraignment was held in Brockton District Court where he was detained pending a subsequent dangerousness hearing.
