DOVER — The Dover Police Department has announced the arrest of a local man following an investigation into child pornography.

In December, authorities received a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children about potential child pornography distribution in the area.

A thorough investigation led by the Dover Police detectives resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for Andrew Levasseur, 34.

Levasseur was apprehended on the morning of Jan. 25 after detectives executed an arrest and search warrant at his home.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Facing multiple charges, including two counts of distribution of child sexual abuse images, one count of possession of child sexual abuse images, and 11 counts of nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images, Levasseur was already on bail for related charges.

Due to the serious nature of the allegations, Levasseur was ordered to be held in preventative detention.

He was transferred to the Strafford County House of Corrections, awaiting his court appearance at the 7th Circuit Court – District Division – Dover, set for Jan. 26.

The New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force provided assistance during the investigation.

The Dover Police Department is encouraging anyone with further information about this case to contact them at 603-742-4646.
