CHICOPEE — The Chicopee Police Department responded to rumors of a potential threat to Chicopee High School on Tuesday, January 23, after the information circulated on social media.

Detectives immediately launched an investigation upon learning of the rumors and identified the source of the threat.

Despite many expressing concerns online, no one provided concrete evidence to the detectives.

As a result, no charges have been filed in connection to the high school threat due to insufficient evidence.

During the investigation, a similar situation arose at Dupont Middle School.

Two juveniles were identified as being involved, with one facing criminal charges.

The School Department is addressing the matter with administrative actions against both individuals.

In response to these incidents, the Chicopee Police Department urges anyone with direct information to contact their Detective Bureau at 413-594-1740.

Additional officers will be stationed at both Dupont Middle School and Chicopee High School on Friday, January 26, to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff.

The School Department will also be implementing heightened safety protocols.
