HIGHGATE — A man sustained minor injuries after his vehicle struck a tree on Highgate Road near Route 78 on Jan. 23.

Joshua Greenia, 29, of Franklin, was driving his 2022 Volkswagen when he encountered two stationary vehicles stopped because of a downed telephone pole blocking the roadway.

In an attempt to avoid a collision, Greenia veered onto the shoulder and hit a tree.

The accident occurred at 4:23 p.m. under clear weather and road conditions.

Greenia suffered minor injuries and was transported to Northwest Medical Center for treatment, police say.

The front end of Greenia’s vehicle sustained significant damage.

The incident is under further investigation by the Vermont State Police.
