Worcester police seize crack cocaine, handgun in early morning raid

WORCESTER — Worcester Police Vice Squad officers executed a search warrant at a Main St apartment early Tuesday morning, recovering a loaded handgun and substances believed to be crack cocaine.

The operation began at approximately 5:50 a.m. when officers entered the residence.

Inside, they discovered what looked to be crack cocaine prepared for distribution along with the firearm.

Arrested at the scene were Debric Sweeney, 54, and Shara Latham, 41, of Oxford.

Both Sweeney and Latham face charges including Trafficking in a Class B Substance 36-99 grams, Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card, Improper Storage of a Firearm, Use of a Firearm in a Felony, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.

The Worcester Police Department has not released further details on the raid but affirmed that the investigation is ongoing.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court following their arrest.
